Patricia J. Cooney, Esquire is a partner at Segal, Berk, Gaines and Liss. She has been with the firm for over thirty-three years successfully litigating hundreds of civil cases including Jury Trials, Non-Jury Trials, Arbitrations and Mediation Hearings in both Federal and State courts. Ms. Cooney has also done appellate work before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Pennsylvania Superior Court, Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and the Federal Third Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, she practices in the area of Workers’ Compensation representing injured workers and Social Security Disability matters. Ms. Cooney has also successfully negotiated settlements in personal injury cases as well as workers’ compensation matters including Commutations and Compromise and Release Agreements for injured workers.
Ms. Cooney practices in the Federal and State Courts in the Philadelphia County as well as all of the surrounding suburban counties including Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery.
Ms. Cooney received her B.A. in Political Science from Widener University and went on to become a graduate of the Delaware Law School of Widener University.
Prior to joining Segal, Berk, Gaines and Liss, Ms. Cooney clerked for Judge William R. Toal, Jr. of the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas. She was also elected as the Councilwoman for the Borough of Prospect Park, Delaware County, PA, serving as the Chairman of the Police and Fire Committee as well as the Building, Planning and Zoning Committee.
Ms. Cooney is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Philadelphia Bar Association, Delaware County Bar Association and she is an active member of the Workers’ Compensation Section. She is also a member of the Attorney Volunteers of the World Meeting of Families and Saint Joseph’s University. Ms. Cooney is the Attorney Volunteer for the 2016 City Year Philadelphia AmeriCorps Career Day Program.
